"We aren’t the practice for surgeons who focus exclusively on operating.  We believe strongly that research and education add value to our care."

Full Description:
Fusions for symptomatic disc disease and degerative conditions have improved as a result of increased use of internal fixation. However, although fusion rates are high and initial patient outcomes improve, a significant number of these patients have recurrent pain. Evaluating potential pain generators of recurrent or continued pain after successful fusion can be difficult and often requires extensvie clinical and radiographic workup. Consideration for implant removal in the absence of pseudoarthrosis (or failed fusion) for the treatment of recurrent pain remains controversial and preoperative predictors of improvement have not been clearly defined.

This study will review results of implant removal to determine if there are identifiable predictors that better correlate with successful outcomes of implant removal.
