Full Description:
All patients who have been seen either at TCSC or Gillette Children's who have been diagnosed with instability in the cervical spine related to congenitally anomalous development will be included in the study. Excluded would be children with instability due to other causes such as Morquio's Syndrome, Spondyloepiphyseal dysplacia, etc.
Method: All charts, both clinic and hospital, will be reviewed, along with all pertinent imaging studies. Operative reports will be examined in detail.
Results: A classification will be developed which categorizes the different anatomic and pathological entities identified. This may be a modification of an existing classification or a new one.
The results of our attempts at surgical stabiliation will be reported in detail, with emphasis on surgical technique, whether internal fixation was or was not used, and what complications occurred either intra-operatively, peri-operatively, or long-term.
