Full Description:
Our major purpose is to establish a prospective adult spinal deformity database that is unparalleled . That way, virtually any study can be done retrospectively with prospective data.
More specifically, for the surgical patients, we are assessing radiographic and clinical outcomes pre- and postoperatively. For the non-surgical patients, we are attempting to follow them to assess the natural history of spinal deformities. We will attempt to evaluate whether or not there is quality of life improvement in the older patients. Also, we would like to determine which deformities have a tendency to progress with againg. We will also assess parameters on the younger patients pre- and postoperatively, realizing though, that it may be harder in this younger patient population to establish a "quality of life improvement" than it is in the older patients.
