"We aren’t the practice for surgeons who focus exclusively on operating.  We believe strongly that research and education add value to our care."

Full Description:
Since the early 1950s, surgeons believed that ACDF prevents progressive spondylotic spurring, works to stabilize the motion segment thereby leading to spur regression, enables indirect decompression by distration of the disc space, and minimizes the need for surgical manipulation of the spinal cord. However, ACDF is associated with adjacent level disease and when greater than one level is fused, may limit mobility. This multi-center, prospective randomized controlled trial is designed to evaluate the safety and effectiveness of the DISCOVER Artificial Cervical Disc when compared to ACDF for the treatment of cervical DDD; this study will also explore potential advantages of the DISCOVER Artificial Cervical Disc over ACDF.
